UX audit

A UX audit that shows where your website loses customers

A UX audit reviews your website or app through the eyes of its users. We find where people get lost, what puts them off and why they don’t complete a purchase or an enquiry. You get a report with specific fixes, ordered from those that deliver the most for the least effort.

When a UX audit makes sense

  • Traffic, but few sales. The site has visitors, but few of them send an enquiry or complete an order.
  • Ads keep getting pricier. You pay for every click, but campaign traffic doesn’t turn into customers.
  • You’re planning a redesign. You want to know what really bothers users before you spend the budget on a new site.
  • Complaints about the form or checkout. Customers say something doesn’t work, or abandon the process halfway.
  • Accessibility. You want to check whether the site meets WCAG before a customer or a regulator asks.
  • A new feature didn’t take off. The team put a lot of work into it, but users don’t use it.

What we check

We walk through the key journeys the way your customers do, on desktop and on mobile. We evaluate them against established usability principles (Nielsen’s heuristics) and compare them with data on how people actually use the site.

Journeys and navigation

Whether people can easily get from landing on the site to the offer, prices, contact or checkout, and whether the menu speaks the customer’s language.

Forms and checkout

Fields, error messages, the number of steps and the moments when people give up.

Accessibility and mobile

Contrast, text size, keyboard and screen reader support according to WCAG 2.1, and comfort on small screens.

Analytics data

Where users leave and what they look for. If you have session recordings and heatmaps, we analyse those too.

We also check the content: whether the offer is clear within seconds, whether buttons say what happens after a click and whether the site answers the questions customers currently call or email about.

What the report looks like

We describe every issue on a screenshot: what is wrong, why it gets in users’ way and how to fix it. Issues are ranked by business impact and effort, so you can see right away where to start and what can wait.

We go through the report in a meeting with you and the team that will make the changes. Developers and marketing then know what to fix and why, instead of just receiving a list of comments.

How the audit works

  1. Call and goals

We agree on the site’s goals, the key journeys and what isn’t working today, and ask for access to analytics.

  2. Analysis

We walk through the journeys on desktop and mobile, evaluate them against heuristics and check accessibility and data.

  3. Report

We document the issues with recommendations and rank them by priority.

  4. Review and next steps

We go through the report with the team. If you want, we design the fixes and hand them over to developers.

UX audit vs usability testing and UX research

A UX audit is done by an expert based on usability principles and data. Usability testing means watching real users complete tasks on the site, and UX research is a broader study of customer needs and behaviour, for example through interviews.

An audit is faster and cheaper, while testing reveals things you can’t see in the data. They work well together: the audit points to suspicious areas and tests with users confirm what really bothers them. Once you know what to change, we can also design the new solution.

Frequently asked questions

What is a UX audit?

An expert review of a website or app for usability: whether users easily find information, understand the offer and complete a purchase or enquiry without obstacles. The result is a report with issues and recommendations.

How much does a UX audit cost?

We quote it individually, depending on the size of the site, the number of journeys and whether the audit includes user testing. We will prepare a quote after a short call.

How long does a UX audit take?

It depends on the scope. We give you the timeline together with the quote, before we start.

How is a UX audit different from an SEO audit?

An SEO audit checks whether Google and other search engines can find your site. A UX audit checks what happens once a customer arrives: whether they find what they are looking for and leave an enquiry or an order.

Does a UX audit include user testing?

The core audit is an expert analysis plus analytics data. We can add user testing when you want to confirm the findings or test a new solution before launch.

What do I get after the audit?

A report with issues documented on screenshots, recommendations and priorities, plus a meeting where we go through it with your team.

Do you audit online stores and apps?

Yes. We audit company websites, online stores and web apps, including customer portals and booking systems.

Can you help implement the fixes?

Yes. Based on the report we can design the changes and hand them over to developers. More on UX/UI design.
